This haven of peace just one hour from Paris welcomes people seeking a healthy and balanced life style and who want to develop a spiritual and positive vision of life based on the teachings of Swami Sivananda. Its natural setting is very conducive to contemplation and rejuvenation: vast open spaces, old forests with century old trees populated with countless species of birds, breathtaking sunrises and sunsets.

New to Yoga

Discover yoga as taught in the Sivananda Yoga Ashram. The Sivananda Yoga Centres and Ashrams have been spreading the teaching and practice of yoga for over 60 years.

We offer a number of short stays where you can start your yoga practice in an integral way. Practice at the ashram includes yoga postures, breathing exercises, the experience of a proper diet, meditation, techniques to develop positive thinking.

If you cannot join us for a short yoga stay yet, you can join our online activities. We have online yoga classes. We also host online meditation sessions in the form of satsangs. Satsangs are 90 minutes session divided into three parts : silent meditation, chanting of mantras, and short conference on yoga philosophy.

The classes given during this workshop are designed for complete beginners or those who have practiced yoga occasionally.

You will benefit from a progressive teaching of basic postures that develop strength and flexibility, breathing exercises that increase energy and concentration, and physical and mental relaxation techniques. By the end of the first class, you will feel calm and well-being.

The Five Points of Yoga

After closely observing the lifestyles and needs of people in the West, Swami Vishnudevananda, the founder of Sivananda Yoga Vedanta Centres, noted that the ancient wisdom of Yoga can be synthesized into five basic principles, which can easily be incorporated into our own lifestyles to provide the foundation for healthy living. It is around these five principles that the activities at the Ashram De Yoga Sivananda are based.

 

Proper Exercise Sivananda Yoga | 5 Points of Yoga(Asanas)

Enhances the flexibility of the joints, muscles, tendons and ligaments and stimulates circulation. Flexibility and strength of the spine keep the body youthful.

 

Proper Breathing Sivananda Yoga | 5 Points of Yoga(Pranayama)

Connects the body to its battery, the solar plexus, which is an storehouse of energy. Stress and depression can be overcome by breathing more deeply with increased awareness.

 

Proper Relaxation Sivananda Yoga | 5 Points of Yoga(Savasana)

Relieves the body of existing stress symptoms (including muscle tension and breathlessness) and also helps develop resistance against external stress factors. Once body and mind are freed from constant overload they are at ease and perform more efficiently.
