“Devi is the Mother of all. She is Nature Itself. The whole world is Her body. She runs this world show. The Mother’s Grace is boundless. Her mercy is illimitable; Her knowledge infinite; Her power immeasurable; Her glory ineffable; and Her splendour indescribable.” Swami Sivananda

Shakti/Devi or the Universal Mother is the cosmic energy that gives and maintains life. She is the dynamic force that creates, nourishes and protects all beings. We depend on the Divine Mother for success in every part of our life: good health, fulfilment of our material needs, a high level of vital energy, a keen intellect, a serene, happy mind and Moksha (Self-Realization). The Divine Mother represents also absolute, unconditional love – as Her eternal children She forever loves and accepts us as we are.

Besides stories and wisdom teachings, this course will also include the practice of chants, sacred mantras and meditations on the various manifestations of the Divine Mother.
The sacred scriptures “Devi Mahatmyam” and “Devi Bhagavatam” will serve as main inspiration for the stories, but legends from the Yoga tradition will be included as well.

Workshop Topics

  • 8 April: Introduction
Introduction into the main scriptures and the symbolism of the Divine Mother and explanation of the meaning of Navaratri, the annual 9-day-festival where Her main manifestations (Durga-Lakshmi-Sarasvati) are invoked. The 9 days of Navaratri symbolically represent the journey of the spiritual aspirant towards freedom and illumination.
  • 15 April: Durga – the dynamic power of renewal
In her fierce, protective aspect as Durga, the Divine Mother fights and kills many terrible demons. This symbolizes the conquest of the lower mind by overcoming negative emotions. It is the inner purification that must necessarily take place through spiritual practice in order to make room for positive thoughts and actions.
  • 22 April: Lakshmi – the loving energy of abundance and positivity
Lakshmi is the nourishing aspect of the Divine Mother, who looks after the needs of Her children. On the physical level, Lakshmi is the abundance and beauty in nature. On the spiritual level, Lakshmi manifests as a peaceful, pure and serene mind that is filled with positive thoughts.
  • 29 April: Sarasvati – the divine bliss of true knowledge and freedom
Mother Sarasvati represents creativity, intelligence and true knowledge. She is the creative energy behind all arts like music, literature, poetry, painting, etc. On the spiritual level, Mother Sarasvati is Brahma Vidya, the awareness of our inner Self as cosmic consciousness.

Recording links will also be sent to all registered students for review; the link of each recording will only be valid for a week.
